Rafting:  the Pacuare River, in addition to its beauty, is recognized as one of the best rivers in the world for white water rafting with level III to IV rapids. However it’s also possible to raft on other rivers like Sarapiqui for example.

Snorkeling:  south of the Caribbean Coast you will find series of spots where you can admire the corals and the amazing life that surrounds them (Punta Uvita, Manzanillo, Cahuita...). Pacific coast, no corals, but a mineral seafloors, habitat of a multitude of species such as rays eagles (Playa Conchal, La Penca, Calzón de Pobre...). Visibility is not always good, so you are better checking the conditions and favorable times before going.

The most experienced hikers will enjoy climbing the Chirripó (the highest point of the country), crossing the Corcovado National Park or discovering the Amistad International Park. The many little-used roads lend themselves to adventure, whether mountain laces offering spectacular views or rugged trails crossing streams and forests! What’s more, you can find good mountain bike trails around Corcovado and Arenal, as well as in the central highlands.

Horse riding:  rides are possible throughout the country. You even can make night excursions with packhorses to access the most remote sites of national parks!

In the air

Suspension bridges and zip lines:  many possibilities of suspension bridges exist in the country. It’s an unique and fun way to discover the forests and their richness by climbing at the height of the canopy and the many epiphytes that are established there!
